Cooking has been part of the family DNA at least for three generations.

Carlos Vianna Brandi is a retired engineer, 65 years old, born in Brazil and also a Portuguese citizen. He’s been living near Lisbon since 1988, nowadays only with his wife. One of their children is a professional cook in London. Cooking has been part of the family DNA at least for three generations.

Amateur cook for long, he’s been developing his knowledge and gastronomic practice in an organized way. From his intense journeys around the world, for professional or touristic reasons, he absorbed other flavours and practices, but his cooking is basically Mediterranean and Portuguese. With emphasis on aromatic herbs, which he cultivates, dried herbs and spices.

After leaving his job as an engineer, he organized at home gastronomic events at lunch time for a group of ex-colleagues. He could therefore improve the practice of serving complete meals in an organized and limited period of time.

His home, on the four countries he lived, was and always is a «meeting point» of family and friends gastronomic moments.
«Chef» Brandi, as called by his ex-colleagues, is delighted to receive you at his home, Portuguese and foreign people, «connaisseurs» or not of Portuguese cookery. To share a well organised gastronomic event, but with joy and relaxation.

  1. Mouth-buzzing food from insightful hosts

    We went to Carlos’ place on a friday evening, being 4 in total. As we arrived we were introduced with some great moscatel, followed up by the first dish: 3 ways of different seafood-carpaccios with a tasty white wine.

    Before switching from the second dish – grouse cooked with vegetables – to the third, a small lemon sorbet was served to change the tongue perceptions. The following third and main dish, slow cooked lamb should with sweet potatoes was divine in every bite. I won´t tell anymore here.

    But besides that, we had some meaningful conversations with Carlos and his wife. We really enjoyed these conversations over some drinks and his homemade dessert.

  2. Amazing experience

    The platform worked in a very effective way. Having the opportunity of dining in a tipical Portuguese house and eat the Portuguese food made by a chef was an outstanding experience. There is a good realization between the cost and the service (meal)! The host is very nice. We were 4 in a large table I guess 6 would be the limit.
    I recommend this experience.

  3. Our way to enter in the portugues culture

    Like you can imagine on the photo, this chef is truly an original! He cooked not only georgous dishes for us, but he could also present it in a professional way, so that we could learn a lot about the portugues culture. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. The menu was well-rounded and combining to the two wines. We missed nothing, but we miss you, Chef Brandy!!

    thanks for the very nice evening with you and your wife, the codfish dinner was delicious and we enjoid the warm and friendly atomsphere.
